Twisties ("we", "our", "the app") is a social platform for motorcycle riders. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: You can sign in with Google or Apple. From Google we receive your name, email address, and profile picture. From Apple we receive your name and email address; if you choose Apple's "Hide My Email" option we receive an Apple-generated relay address instead of your real one. Apple does not provide a profile picture.

Profile information: You may optionally add a handle, tagline, country, banner image, motorcycles, and profile customization preferences.

Location data: When you use the ride tracking feature, we collect GPS location data to record your route. Location is only collected while you are actively tracking a ride. We also use your location for route planning if you choose to plan from your current position.

Photos and camera: With your permission, you can upload photos from your library or take new photos with the camera to attach to posts, comments, messages, profile, banner, motorcycles, and rides. Photos are uploaded only when you choose to attach them.

Content you create: Posts, comments, photos, ride data, routes, group rides (events), club information, bookmarks, and direct messages you send through the app.

Push notification tokens: If you enable notifications, we store an Apple Push Notification (APNs) or Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token so we can deliver notifications about activity relevant to you.

Device information: Basic device identifiers used for authentication and to deliver push notifications.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide and operate the Twisties platform
To display your profile and content to other users
To enable social features (following, messaging, clubs)
To record and display your ride history and statistics
To provide route planning and weather information along routes
To send notifications about activity relevant to you
To enforce our terms of service and handle reports

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Your data may be visible to other users based on your privacy settings:

Public profiles: Your name, handle, profile picture, and public posts are visible to all users.
Private profiles: Only users you approve as followers can see your content.
Direct messages: Only visible to you and the recipient.
Club content: Visible to club members.
Group rides (events): Visibility depends on the option you choose when creating the ride — public, followers only, club only, or unlisted (link-only).
Blocking: You can block other users to hide their content from you and prevent them from contacting you or seeing your profile.

We may share data with law enforcement if required by law.

4. Third-Party Services

Google Sign-In: Authentication via Google. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Sign in with Apple: Authentication via Apple. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
Apple Push Notification service (APNs): Used to deliver notifications to iOS devices. Only an opaque device token is shared with Apple.
Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM): Used to deliver notifications to Android devices. Operated by Google. See Firebase Privacy.
Google Maps (Android): Map tiles on Android devices are rendered via Google Maps. iOS uses Apple Maps.
OpenStreetMap / Nominatim: Used for address search and route data. No personal data is shared.
Yr.no (MET Norway): Used for route weather forecasts. No personal data is sent to Yr.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on cloud servers located in the European Union. Uploaded media (profile pictures, post images, ride thumbnails, and similar) is stored in S3-compatible object storage in the same region. We use HTTPS encryption for all data in transit and follow industry-standard security practices.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data will be removed. Some content (such as messages sent to other users) may be retained in the recipient's conversation history.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your account and associated data
Set your profile to private to limit visibility

8. Children's Privacy

Twisties is not intended for users under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
